As a traveler, you have a unique opportunity to leave your mark at dozens of facilities around the country; you have the ability to impact dozens (if not hundreds) of lives. Your tenure and experience as a traveling medical professional are not only valuable to you, but to the paths you cross as well.

Make the most out of your travel assignment—leave the facility better than when you arrived. Check out these tips for being the best traveler you can be:

1. Be willing to learn (and stay positive!). Every facility operates differently. Sure, there are going to be the same key aspects from place to place—but there are “rules of the road”, so to speak, that you’ll need to learn.

You will be so much happier, and have a much better time adapting if you’re open to the learning curve, and able to stay positive about your new experience! Learning new lessons and techniques from your colleagues is a valuable experience that a lot of medical professionals don’t get a chance to experience.

Take advantage of these 13 weeks- you’ll be surprised how much you learn!

2. Leave your mark- bring your knowledge along with you. Even though each facility has their own way of doing things, your experience is invaluable to them! After learning the ropes, and getting to know your colleagues, don’t be afraid to share your knowledge with them!

The reason a lot of facilities absolutely love travelers, is because of their extensive background in the medical field. You’ve learned from some of the best and brightest in your field—others want to dip into your knowledge pool!

3. Make new friends. One of the best ways to learn the ropes, as well as get the lay of the land in your new town, is to meet new people! The peers you have at the facility are the best resource for you. They’ll probably also be pretty excited to hear about your vast variety of experience as well!
